South African Police Service in Laudium and Victim empowerment center Kopano Manyano NPO went door to door on Friday morning in the Itireleng informal settlement for 16 days of activism against women and children abuse on a gender based violence awareness campaign.

The community were sensitized about Gender based violence and elderly and disabled person rights.

The community were also told about the importance of reporting any abuse to the police, assured of their right to safety and were also reminded to wear the mask when they leave their homes, keep social distance between one another and sanitize to prevent the spread of the Covid19 pandemic.

Pamphlets on Domestic violence, sexual offences and Covid-19 were distributed.

The community were encouraged to continue partnering with the police in fighting crime by reporting to SAPS on 0860010111.
