ANC victorious in Ward 61, Laudium, Erasmia and Itireleng


The African National Congress has made a come back in Ward 61, Laudium, Erasmia and Itireleng. In the 2014 National Elections, the Democratic Alliance (DA) topped the ward with 4233 votes, in second place was the ANC with 3942 votes.

In this election, the ANC were victorious with 4847 votes, DA with 3031 votes and in third place is the EFF with 862 votes. Al Jama-ah attained fourth position with 815 votes.

South Africans headed to the polls on Wednesday in an election marking 25 years since the end of apartheid rule in 1994.

The ANC will retain Gauteng with 50.19% of the votes followed by the DA (27.45%) and the EFF in third position with 14.69%

Nationally the ANC (57.51%) retains control of eight provinces, with the DA (20.76%) holding on to the Western Cape. The EFF (10.79%) takes official opposition in three provinces and the IFP taking the official opposition away from the DA in KZN.


Local Al Jama-ah candidate, Noormohamed Omar (Nunu) did not garner enough votes to secure a seat in the Provincial Legislature
