A Bengal street resident is recovering in a Tshwane hospital after being shot during an armed robbery outside his home on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the victim had returned home at approximately 2:30 AM when he was accosted by two armed suspects who demanded his valuables.

During the ensuing scuffle, the victim was shot in the leg. Following the shooting, the suspects fled on foot over the mountain in the direction of Atteridgeville.

Meanwhile, members of the Extension 3 community have urged property owners to ensure that their grass is regularly cut and their properties are secured as the dense bush adjacent to the mountain often serves as an escape route for criminals.

The specific circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated by local police.
