A family has returned from Turkey and a father has been tested positive for Covid-19.
According to the family, on their return to South Africa last week, they went into self quarantine and had not made contact with anyone.
“I got my results on Saturday and it came back positive. I haven’t made any contact with anyone since my return from holiday.” he told Laudium Today.
An Erasmia businessman who returned from Pakistan was also tested positive and has also gone into self quarantine.
A local doctor told Laudium Today, “There has been two confirmed cases, but there is no need for panic. We should adhere strictly to the rules, keep social distance and self quarantine.”
A few other cases have been reported but remains unconfirmed at this stage
Meanwhile, Suleiman Patel of Johannesburg has sent out a notice asking people who came in contact with him between the 14 & 21st March to take necessary precautions.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in South Africa has increased by 34 on Sunday to a total of 274, health minister Zweli Mkhize confirmed.
Mkhize believes between 60% to 70% of South Africans will get the coronavirus, of which only about 20% of those will be serious cases.
The community is urged to practice social distancing and follow the guidelines provided by the medical professionals.
