In a display of recognition for outstanding academic achievements, the Annual Councillor Naeem Patel's Awards for Academic Excellence unfolded its second event on Saturday, January 27, 2024. This event, held at the Al Ghazali Hall in Erasmia, saw Councillor Patel honoring top matriculants, dedicated teachers, and exceptional schools within his constituency.
The event's keynote speaker was Ambassador Ashraf Suliman and the MC Zahra Patel.
The awards were distributed across various categories, underscoring the diverse aspects of academic brilliance. Amongst others, the recipients included:

- School of the Year in Ward 61 award went to Central Islamic School and the Principal of the Year award went to Madam R.Singh of Laudium Secondary School.
The Perseverance Award, for the learner who didn't necessarily earn the best results but who achieved a bachelor's pass despite challenges and obstacles, was given by Mahdiyyah Patel from Mahdiyyah Patel Attorneys to Mohammed Mudassir Essop.
The event gained wider visibility through a live broadcast on Hilaal TV, accessible to a broad audience through DSTV. This initiative not only celebrated local achievements but also served as an inspiration to aspiring students across the region.
