The Centurion West Residents’ Association (CWRA) met Tshwane Utility MMC, Abel Tau, and senior officials, to discuss on-going power outages in the area.
The City cited several causes for the outages and assured the community that “immediate action” will be taken.
A number of steps are to be implement with immediate effect.
A full list of actions and deadlines will be announced by Tau this weekend.
MMC Dana Wannenburg and Councillor Marika Kruger also attended the meeting.
Interim Chairperson of the CWRA, Yusuf Abramjee, thanked the MMC’s, Councillors and officials for their interventions.
“We remain confident that our power woes will be something of the past soon. We are pleased with the outcome of the meeting and we thank the City for meeting the community. Let’s all join hands and work together.”
Abramjee said a Task Team has been set up and they will meet next Friday already to monitor progress.
He said the community was “fed-up with the power outages. We have to address this issue once and for all. Areas affected include Raslouw, Wierda Park, parts of Eldoraigne, Sunderland Ridge, Laudium and Erasmia.”
Tau assured residents that the problem will be solved.
“We are starting today...” he said.
Councillor Farouk Essop from Laudium/Erasmia/Claudius/Iterileng was also present. A separate meeting will he held to discuss power and water problems in these areas.
