Elderly women arrested for dealing in dagga

Erasmia police officers responding to a domestic violence complaint on a smallholding in Hennops River outside Erasmia have uncovered a dagga plantation.


Police received a complaint of a domestic violence incident between a landlord and a tenant at about 17:00 on Tuesday afternoon.


On arrival, officers noticed the plantation. Upon further investigation, police discovered several bags of dagga as well chemicals used in the illegal manufacture of dagga oil.


According to a statement from police spokesperson, Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, two female suspects aged 53 and 61 years old were arrested for dealing in dagga.


Investigations are continuing and the two suspects are due to appear in the Atteridgeville magistrates court.
