Today, Wednesday, 16 December, Day of Reconciliation, was a day of much joy and cheer for senior citizens and those in need, in and around Laudium.

Former students from Himalaya Secondary School, took it upon themselves to extend aid and bring a cheer to the 180 recipients of a grocery hamper.

Today’s event was an eye opening experience as the former students realized just how many families are in dire need of assistance, not just within Laudium, but surrounding areas too.

It was truly a humbling experience for all those who drove from door to door delivering the hampers.

They hope to be afforded with such opportunities to render aid to the Laudium community in future. And hope to inspire others to take up the challenge of supporting their community and those in neighboring areas.

With the assistance of Laudium Care Services for the Aged, Laudium Tamil Association and Pretoria Welfare, they were able to identify needy recipients who genuinely needed the aid.

The former students are grateful to Foodline who facilitated the packing of the hampers, and take the opportunity to wish everybody a safe festive season and blessed 2021.
