Three Jacaranda Athletic Club Runners represented the club as well as the country at one of Europe's most popular running events, The TCS Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday.
Local legal eagles Danie Barnard and Leila Gani both finished the tough event (42.195 km) flying the country flag high as well as the purple colors of Jacaranda. They were joined by Johan Beeslaar who partook in the half marathon (21.097 km) and finished in a sub 2 hrs time. Barnard crossed the finish line in a time of 3hrs 15min and Leila cruised in under sub 5hrs despite suffering an ankle injury.
The course starts from the city’s famous Olympic Stadium and passes many of Amsterdam's most notable landmarks and attractions while making its way back to the stadium via the east of the city.
The TCS Amsterdam Marathon ranks alongside other major marathons such as those in New York, Paris, London, Boston and Berlin.
