Jacaranda Athletes Shine this past Weekend

This weekend was another successful weekend for Jacaranda athletes who participated in events from Gauteng to the mother city Cape Town. 

Junior athlete Mohamed Mookadam took double honors with a back to back win at the Muller Potgieter 10km race and the PMT fun run in Laudium. "There is no stopping this youngster as his passion for the sport sees him taking the podium", said a senior Jacaranda executive member. "We are delighted that our youth continue to excel and we seeing the fruits of our development programs to encourage the youth and inspire them." 

At Sunday’s PMT fun run in honor of a fellow Jacaranda member the late Sir Hamid Ismail, Jacaranda athletes took honors in all categories.

The first male athlete was Hilton Kolobe and the first female athlete was Naheeda Tar, Naheeda also ran a personal best at Saturday’s Muller Potgieter 10km race in Thaba Tshwane. The Centurion educator joined the Jacaranda athletic club more then a year ago. "We salute her on her remarkable achievement which only shows that correct training and discipline leads to success. The club is also thankful for her initiative for assistance in starting a training run together with Taheera Vally from Eldoglen during the week."

Several Jacaranda runners participated and completed the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. Jacarandas male athlete of the year attorney Danie Barnard ran a personal best finishing in a time of 3:07 minutes for the 42,2 km race. Danie quipped that his luck was the race no. 786 allocated to him, this no. has great significance for Muslims. He said he will be treasuring this no and framing it in his office. 
The other runners who also completed this marathon were Ebrahim Mukadam, Abdool Alli, Yaseen Ahmed, Ebrahim Mohamed, Thaskeen Shekh Omar and Bashir Surve. 
 
"We congratulate all our runners ????????????????????and assure them that the purple army will always lead!"
