Laudium Erasmia Clean Up NPC Wins Hearts and Awards

What began as a simple effort to tidy up the streets has grown into a movement that is reshaping Laudium and Erasmia. The Laudium Erasmia Clean Up NPC has become a symbol of what can be achieved when communities, businesses, and leaders unite with one purpose: to restore pride and safety in their neighborhoods.

On any given day, the organisation’s staff can be seen cutting overgrown grass, clearing clogged storm water drains, grading roads, and sweeping sidewalks. The results are visible — cleaner, safer streets that reflect a community determined to thrive.

But for many, the impact goes deeper. “When you see the streets clean, you feel like someone cares. That makes you want to care too,” says one local shopkeeper.

The NPC operates in close partnership with Ward Councillor Naeem Patel, residents, and civic structures. Funded by local businesses, it remains a voluntary initiative at heart, but employs staff members who ensure the work is carried out consistently and professionally.

In December 2024, the organisation joined forces with Laudium Disaster Management and the Laudium CPF to sign a Community Upliftment Precinct Agreement with the City of Tshwane. As part of the initiative, the NPC graded the road around the Claudius Substation, allowing SAPS, TMPD, and private security to patrol the perimeter — helping to protect vital electricity infrastructure from criminal attacks.

The organisation’s contribution has not gone unnoticed.

In January 2025, Cllr Naeem Patel awarded the group 'Community Organisation of the Year'for its unwavering commitment to service.

In September 2025, the Laudium CPF also honoured the NPC as 'CPF Community Organisation of the Year', recognizing its role in crime prevention and community upliftment.

For the men and women behind the effort, these awards serve as a powerful reminder that their daily dedication matters.

The Laudium Erasmia Clean Up NPC is proving that service delivery is not just the job of government — it is a shared responsibility. By reclaiming public spaces and working with community stakeholders, the organisation is instilling a culture of pride, resilience, and responsibility.

As Cllr Patel noted when presenting the January award: “This organisation has shown us that when communities take charge of their future, nothing is impossible.”
