From 1 to 3 May 2026, the Laudium community will host one of the most spiritually significant gatherings on the calendar — the annual Ijtima, set to take place at the Laudium Sports Stadium.

Beginning from Jumu’ah on Friday and concluding at Zohar on Sunday, the Ijtima is expected to draw thousands of attendees from across South Africa and beyond. More than just a gathering, organisers describe it as a powerful opportunity for spiritual renewal and personal transformation.

In an age dominated by constant digital connection and worldly distractions, the Ijtima offers something rare — a space for reflection, reconnection, and purpose.

“We are busy, yet our souls feel idle,” notes Mufti Abdul Khaliq Bhoola, speaking on behalf of the organising committee.

One of the defining features of the Ijtima is its ability to bring people from all walks of life together. Professionals, labourers, business leaders and students all stand shoulder-to-shoulder, united by a common purpose.

Here, status fades, and a deeper value takes precedence — consciousness of the Almighty (Taqwa).

Attendees are reminded not only of their spiritual responsibilities, but also of their role as ambassadors of Islam — embodying good character, discipline, and compassion in everyday life.

While the Ijtima features powerful talks and reminders, organisers emphasise that it is a holistic experience. Participants are encouraged to sacrifice some time from their worldly routine and dedicate time toward learning, self-discipline, strengthening their connection with Allah and become punctual on one’s five daily Salaah.

“We spend our lives building homes we will leave behind. Here, we spend a few days building the homes we will inhabit forever in the hereafter.” Mufti Bhoola says.

The gathering also serves as a launching point for Jama’ats — groups who go on to spread messages of faith, unity, and service within communities.

Described as a “power station” for the soul, the Ijtima provides attendees with the opportunity to disconnect from noise and reconnect with what truly matters.

Moments of collective prayer, reflection, and sincere supplication create an atmosphere that many describe as deeply moving and life-changing.

Organisers are encouraging all to attend, emphasising that the Ijtima is not merely an event to observe, but an experience to be part of.

As Mufti Bhoola highlights, the call is simple yet profound:

• Disconnect from distraction

• Reconnect with your Creator

• Redirect your life toward lasting success

With preparations well underway, the Laudium community looks forward to welcoming guests to what promises to be a spiritually uplifting and unifying gathering.

May this Ijtima serve as a turning point for individuals, the community, and humanity at large.
