Laudium resident killed in car crash

A Laudium resident has been fatally wounded in a car crash on the R55 outside Laudium.


The incident, involving a passenger sedan and a truck, occurred shortly after 13:15 at the intersection of R55 and Pierre Van Ryneveld / Military road on Thursday afternoon.


According to Safe-T-Med Africa spokesperson, Mojoe Cassim, emergency services, PAJ Community Patrollers and Laudium Disaster Management volunteers arrived at the scene and discovered that a passenger had sustained fatal injuries whilst the driver had been moderately injured.


The injured driver was stabilised on scene by paramedics prior to being transported to a nearby medical facility for further care.


The road has been temporarily closed to allow police accident investigors to conduct further investigations.


The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
