Laudium police in conjunction with the local CPF, Simon Stars Football Club, victim empowerment NPO, Kopano Manyano and various other organisations have hosted a youth day project at the Iterileng informal settlement.
The aim of the project was to encourage youth from the community to participate in sporting activities. In a bid to discourage drug abuse and participation in criminal activities, participants were encouraged to participate in various sporting activities including netball and indoor football. Participants were also sensitised on the increasing dangers of human trafficking.
As part of the project, sanitary pads were also distributed to ladies from the community.
According to police spokesperson, Constable Simon Chokoe, participants were also encouraged to report any criminal activity to the SAPS by calling the police crime stop number 08600 10111 or local police. Members of the community were also given an assurance that the police were there to protect them.
