A local resident was rescued after falling into a stormwater canal near the intersection of Maunde Street and the R55. The victim, who had been dropped off by a taxi, reportedly didn't see the approximately 5-meter deep canal and fell in.
Members from Laudium Disaster Management, Laudium CPF, the Councillor's Office, CERT-SA and Vision Tactical worked together to rescue the man. He sustained head and leg injuries but is in a stable condition.
