Local volunteer assists during Freedom Day emergency childbirth

Local Safe-T-Med Africa and Laudium Disaster Management volunteer, Vivek Bhima has been praised by members of the Erasmia community after assisting a local resident in labor.

The Erasmia resident went into labor shortly after 14:00 on Monday afternoon. Assistance was requested from local volunteers. 

On arrival, Bhima found that the victim had already begun giving birth. He assisted during the delivery process and requested assistance from emergency medical personnel. 

On arrival, medical personnel from Safe-T-Med Africa and Vision Tactical provided respiratory support to the and stabilized the neonate. 

Both the mother and newborn baby were transported by ambulance to a nearby medical facility for further care.
