Man nabbed for theft out of motor vehicle in Laudium

Police arrested a 30 year old man this afternoon for theft out of motor vehicle in Jewel street. 


It is alleged that the victim parked a company motor vehicle along the street with windows closed, doors closed but not locked and a cellphone was left on charge while busy performing work duty few meters away from the vehicle.


It is further alleged that the victim saw an African man opening the vehicle door, he than ran back to the vehicle and noticed that the cellphone was missing.


The victim together with security officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect at the taxi rank.

 

A case of theft out of motor vehicle was opened at Laudium SAPS and the suspect was immediately arrested.


Motorists are warned not to leave valuable items exposed inside vehicles and to ensure that the vehicle doors are locked before leaving the vehicle.


Laudium SAPS Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Nkwane applauded members of the community and security companies for their continuous partnership with the police on fighting crime.


“Police will continue with more visibility and stop and searches around Laudium shopping center to ensure that our communities are safe and free.” She added


The suspect will appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate court soon.
