A man has been shot and killed and a second injured after being assaulted and stabbed.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 PM on Sunday evening in Coert street in Erasmia.
According to reports, residents heard numerous gunshots. Upon further investigation, they discovered the victims laying on the roadside.
Volunteers from Laudium Disaster Management, Safe-T-Med Africa, PAJ Community Patrollers and Netcare 911 responded to the incident and discovered that the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
According to Safe-T-Med Africa spokesman, Vivek Bhima, treatment was initiated by emergency medical personnel. Despite all efforts, the victim was declared deceased on the scene.
Initial reports indicated that the incident was the result of a robbery could not be confirmed by police.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident will form part of a police investigation.
