The gruesome murder of mother and daughter, Ayesha Nasir (Chantelle Ash) and 8 month old Tasneem at a lodge near Mokopane (Potgietersrus) on Thursday, 14 January 2021 has left the family shattered.

Speaking to Laudium Today, Ayesha’s mother Annie Ash said, “I wish he would have just phoned me and told me to go and fetch my babies, he didn't have to take it this far.”

Bangladeshi National, Neesham Nasir married Ayesha in a traditional Muslim wedding in December 2020. They met four years ago in Randfontein at Neesham’s business. Ayesha was born in Polokwane and grew up in Levubu.

A heart broken and emotionally distraught mum said they would have had a Christian wedding ceremony as well this year. “I was supposed to be planning my daughters wedding, instead I’m planning her funeral.”

Family friend and local resident, Haroon Abramjee together with Kamal Jaffer spoke to the family about the last rights of a Muslim i.e ghusl (washing of the deceased), Janaazah (prayer before the deceased is buried) and they have agreed that Ayesha did accept Islam and that it will be acceptable to grant her that right.

Ayesha and baby Tasneem will be given an Islamic ghusl and Janazah by the Central Muslim Burial Team and will be laid to rest in Pretoria where her mum Annie resides.

Police are requesting members of the community to assist them with information that can lead to the arrest of Neesham Nasir who is believed to be behind the murder of his wife and daughter.
