One killed, one critically wounded and two arrested in Mall @55 robbery

Police received information that a robbery will take place and an operation was planned.


On Saturday evening, four armed suspects entered Romans Pizza Mall @55 on foot, robbed the outlet of cash and cellphones.


As the suspects left the outlet, a shootout between them and the police ensued. Two suspects were shot, one of them fatally wounded and the other was left critically injured. The two remaining suspects were arrested.


Firearms and ammunition were found as well as a bag full of money and cellphones that were taken in the robbery.


The staff of Romans Pizza and a customer with his wife and baby were safely removed from the outlet unharmed.


Members of Netcare911, Cert-SA, ER24, Vision Tactical, Laudium Disaster Management, Copwatch, Tracker Connect, PAJ Community Patrollers and Monitor Net amongst others assisted on scene.
