Laudium, a close-knit community known for its vibrant spirit and unity, witnessed an amazing event last Sunday as the PMT / AWQAF SA Fun Run took place.


This annual event, featuring a 3km and 5km run/walk through the streets of Laudium, served as a celebration of fitness, camaraderie, and, most importantly, the enduring legacy of the late Sir Abdul Hamid, the revered PMT principal.


The community of Laudium came out in full force, with families, friends, and individual runners eagerly participating, celebrating not only physical fitness but also the spirit of communal unity and the honoring of a local legacy. It was a day where fitness and togetherness intersected, creating an atmosphere of shared celebration. The determination of the participants in both the distance was just amazing to see. Young kids basking in atmosphere of the morning – while also moaning about sore legs.




Winners in each category were given some really amazing prizes, not only celebrating their personal achievements but also serving as an inspiration to everyone present.


The event was bolstered by overwhelming support from local organizations. Members of the Jacaranda Athletic Club rallied behind the runners, providing unwavering support and encouragement. Laudium Disaster Management and the Laudium CPF ensured the safety and well-being of all participants along the route.

The palpable embodiment of community spirit was underscored by the dedication of numerous volunteers. These individuals stationed at water points throughout the course offered hydration while edging the runners to keep going. The volunteers played a pivotal role in the seamless execution of the event and reflected the strong sense of community within Laudium.

The PmT / AWQAF SA Fun Run stands as a living testament to the enduring legacy of the late Sir Abdul Hamid. His profound contributions to education and the Laudium community continue to be remembered and celebrated through this event. It serves as an annual reminder to the younger generation, inspiring them to uphold the values of commitment and service to the community.


This lively event transcends the boundaries of a mere run; it is a symbol of unity, heritage, and collective memory. It mirrors the resilience and solidarity of the Laudium community.
