Passenger seriously injured in Erasmia crash

One person has been seriously injured after being involved in a motor vehicle crash on the M26 road in Erasmia. 

The incident occurred shortly before 19:00 on Sunday evening. 

The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by members of the community and PAJ Community Patrollers and handed over to local authorities. 

According to Safe-T-Med Africa spokesperson, Mojoe Cassim, the victim sustained a head injury after the LDV she was travelling in rolled and and went down an embankment. 

Due to the nature of her injuries, the victim was stabilised on scene prior to being airlifted to a Gauteng medical facility for further care. 

The road was temporarily closed by Laudium Disaster Management to enable the emergency helicopter to land. 

The circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear and will form part of a police investigation.
