Police nab three, five unlicensed firearms and ammunition recovered in sting operation

Three men who allegedly demanded protection fees from various small business owners in the Itireleng informal settlement were arrested on Wednesday.


Tshwane Crime Intelligence together with members from Laudium Crime Prevention pounced on the first suspect and recovered two unlicensed firearms and 19 rounds of live ammunition.


At the second house, police arrested a 23-year-old man with an unlicensed firearm and 13 rounds of live ammunition in his possession.




“Members then proceeded to the third house where they arrested a 25-year-old for possession of another two unlicensed firearms and 8 rounds of live ammunition.” SAPS said.


All three men are expected to appear in court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
