Truckloads of counterfeit goods estimated to be worth R2.3 million have been confiscated by Tshwane Metro Police in a raid on trading areas in Marabastad on Wednesday.
Scores of shoppers looked on as members of the metro police, brand owners and other stake holders packed shoes, handbags, clothing, and other items into large plastic bags in Marabastad yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba told Laudium Today the raid was part of the city’s ongoing operations.
“Operations would be carried out every day in different areas of the city.”
Mahamba confirmed that the metro police had confiscated R2.3m in goods. He said two foreign nationals had been arrested and their shops has been temporarily closed.
