In honor of Child Protection Week, which ran from May 29th to June 5th, Sunrise School collaborated with Social Services to host an enlightening morning for parents and students. The event aimed to raise awareness about safeguarding children and emphasize the significance of their protection.

Occupational Therapists, alongside the School Social Worker and Nurse, orchestrated a School-to-Work mini expo. This initiative sought to educate parents and community stakeholders on integrating students with special needs into the community post-graduation—a task made more challenging by the overarching employment issues.

Sunrise School caters to students aged 7 to 20, focusing on equipping them with essential skills for future employment. The expo's objective was to urge parents to exhibit their children's talents within the community and explore employment opportunities with supervision.

Local stakeholders were invited to provide insights and information, including avenues such as sheltered workshops. The school's curriculum emphasizes skill development in areas such as Food Production, Woodwork, Office Administration, and Creative Arts, complemented by an Occupational Therapy Programme for work simulation.

The Laudium Community's support has been instrumental in facilitating the placement of students in various work settings. Thanks to partnerships with establishments like OK Laudium, ABMAH Car Wash, Ajmer Butchery, and Bakers Den, some students have secured part-time employment, utilizing the skills and experience gained.

Sunrise School encourages community members to reach out to Occupational Therapists Sajida Khamker and Madelein Viviers for further assistance in integrating students into the workforce, ensuring a brighter future for all.
