SuperSport International has confirmed the sale of its Premier Soccer League (PSL) club, SuperSport United, to Siwelele Football Club for a reported R50 million. The deal, pending approval by the PSL Executive Committee, could see SuperSport United renamed as Siwelele Football Club, with rumors suggesting a possible revival of Bloemfontein Celtic.
According to SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha, the sale is part of the company's strategic shift to focus on its core business. Siwelele F.C chairman Calvin Le John expressed excitement about continuing the club's winning tradition, but both parties are awaiting the PSL's decision.
The new ownership group plans to leverage SuperSport United's established success while forging a new identity. If approved, the deal would mark one of the most significant ownership changes in PSL history and potentially see the return of professional football to Bloemfontein.
