Suspects form WhatsApp group to orchestrate 5th Ave robbery

“A WhatsApp group was formed to communicate and orchestrate the robbery. Two suspects, the garden boy and the ex domestic were on the WhatsApp group.”


Two men have been arrested by Laudium Police on Wednesday afternoon for a house robbery in 5th Avenue.


According to Police Spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe, armed men entered the house demanding the car keys and a bag. “They pointed the victims with a firearm and tied them up with cable ties while the other suspect ransacked the house.”


“The victims family member entered the house unaware of the situation and was ordered to lay down.”


An ADT security officer who was notified via a panic button, apprehended a 35-year-old man who was still in the yard trying to escape while the other suspect fled the scene on foot with a cellphone, car keys and a wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash.


According to a resident who was on the scene, a second suspect - the Malawian National gardener who pretended to be injured was arrested by Police.
