Another Top Award for Yusuf Abramjee
Veteran media personality, Yusuf Abramjee, has scooped yet another top award.
He received the National Press Club/North West University Journalist of the Year 2024 TV news category award at a gala event in Pretoria on Friday evening.
Abramjee is the host of Crime Watch on etv and eNCA.
Abramjee has won dozens of awards over the years.
He said: “I am grateful to the National Press and the NW University for awarding me the Journalist of the Year 2024 in the Television News category."
“This recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the collective efforts of the entire team at Crime Watch on e.tv and eNCA - now in its 7th year."
“Winning this prestigious award is both humbling and inspiring“ said Abramjee.
He added: “It serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility we bear as the media to shed light on critical issues affecting our society. At Crime Watch, we have always been committed to bringing attention to the pervasive crime challenges that South Africa faces.
“This accolade reinforces our dedication to continue our work with renewed vigour and determination.”

He said the media plays a crucial role in shaping public discourse and influencing positive change.

Crime Watch has received the Kudu Award on two occasions from SANPARKS, and Abramjee also received the Adcock Ingram OTC Bravery recognition on numerous occasions.
Twelve years ago, he received the Order of Baobob (silver) from the Goverment for community service. It is the highest national award (order) a President can confer on a civilian.
Brig Athlenda Mathe, National Spokesperson for the SAPS, was named the Media Liaison/Spokesperson of the Year.
