On Friday, June 13th, Ward 61 hosted a highly successful open day at the Laudium Community Health Centre under the theme "I Serve with a Smile". The event was meticulously organized by the clinic committee, with support from various sponsors including PASA and the ward councillor's office.
The open day featured an array of exhibitors, each contributing to the event's special atmosphere. Ward Councillor Patel (an ex officio member of the clinic committee) officially opened the event, setting the tone for a day filled with informative discussions and showcases. The keynote speaker, Gauteng MEC for Health, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the significance of the day. Notably, she praised Councillor Patel, describing him as an exemplary and exceptional councillor, and encouraged other councillors to emulate his dedication and service. The MEC thanked Cllr Patel for his contribution and efforts towards healthcare not only in ward 61 but the entire Tshwane.
One of the event's highlights was the showcase by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Ambulance division. The EMS displayed their latest ICU ambulance, which is now based at the Laudium Community Health Centre. This addition brings the total number of ambulances stationed at the clinic to 35, significantly enhancing the community's access to emergency medical services.
The second part of the program, themed "Turning the Soil", introduced an innovative initiative aimed at promoting community health and nutrition. As part of this initiative, each clinic will establish a vegetable garden, providing fresh, nutritional produce to the community. This project is poised to make a tangible difference in the lives of local residents, promoting healthy eating habits and community empowerment.
