There are moments in life when uncertainty weighs heavily on our hearts. Today, many people find themselves worrying about what lies ahead, wondering what the outcome of recent decisions and circumstances will be. Some fear for their financial future. Others carry the burden of possibly having to leave behind a country they have called home for years. Many are lying awake at night asking the same question: "What will happen to me and my family?"
As muslims, as believers, we are reminded that this world was never meant to be a place of permanent comfort. Allah tells us that we will be tested. Wealth and poverty, success and failure, ease and hardship, stability and uncertainty are all part of this dunya.
Financial difficulty is one of the tests that can shake a person deeply. It affects not only our wallets but also our mental health, emotions, our confidence and our sense of security. Yet even in these moments, we must remember that our sustenance does not come from people, governments, employers or circumstances. It comes from Allah alone.
When financial pressure increases, it is important to reflect on our relationship with wealth. Are we striving to earn through halal means? Are we ensuring that what enters our homes and feeds our families is pure? Are we removing riba (interest) from our lives and transactions?
Riba may appear to increase wealth, but it removes barakah. What seems like gain can become a source of loss in ways we do not always see. True success is not measured by the amount in our bank accounts but by the blessings Allah places within what we have.
At the same time, we should never underestimate the power of charity. It may seem difficult to give when we ourselves are struggling, yet charity has a remarkable way of opening doors we never imagined. The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Charity does not decrease wealth." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2588)
Likewise, gratitude remains one of the greatest keys to increase. Allah says:
"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you." (Qur'an 14:7)
Perhaps the increase is in wealth. Perhaps it is in health, peace of mind, opportunities or protection from difficulties we never even knew were coming.
To those who may have no choice but to return to their countries with heavy hearts, know that your efforts were never unseen by Allah. Every sacrifice, every long working day, every tear shed while trying to provide for yourself and your loved ones has been recorded by the One who never forgets.
A closed door is not the end of your story. Sometimes Allah removes us from one place because He has prepared something better elsewhere. What feels like loss today may become the very path that leads to your greatest blessing tomorrow inshaAllah.
Hold firmly to hope. Continue making dua. Continue trusting Allah. The same Allah who brought you through previous hardships is fully capable of carrying you through this one.
Darkness never lasts forever. By the permission of Allah, light always returns.
